Acridofagia y Otras Insectos

by Julieta Ramos Elorduy

I found this spectacular book in Mexico City in one of my favorite Mexican Bookstores; “El Pendulo”.

Perusing through it I was struck by the artistic presentation as well as the content. An absolutely magnificent work introducing a subject that has only been partially treated in bits and spurts over more than a 70 year period in our Modern Western Culture. As a work it is culturally presents a case to “urban humans” why insects are a food to be reckoned.  Strangely, Mexico where the book is produced is at once an non-traditional urban society and a traditional one. Mexico happens to be one of the most entomophagous countries in the world. I want to pursue having this book published in English.  My friend, Deborah Holtz is the Publisher and she agrees.  A wonderful wonderful read!
